installation in the LSU Design Building atrium

study of the motion of water

This installation was a study of the motion and rise of water in response to the August 2016 flooding in Baton Rouge.  We began the design process by photographing and analyzing water movement. Each panel is made from 1/2" plywood which was CNC milled, assembled, and painted white.  Various panels within the installation are mounted on a system of hinges which allows for the piece to move slightly as people walk bye and interact with it; intensifying the waving motion of the piece. Designed by Jake Hawkins.
